Eucharistic Revival Pilgrimage Information

A Year of Eucharistic Revival is underway nationally, with the focus on the parish level this year (last year was the diocesan focus and next year will be the country). In the religious education program this year we are engaging the children in a Eucharistic Pilgrimage to increase their love for, and devotion to, the Eucharist (also known as Holy Communion or the Blessed Sacrament).

A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey made to a holy site for the purpose of spiritual renewal, to petition a special intention from God and his saints, or in gratitude for prayers answered. All children in the religious education program have received a pilgrimage “passport” to log their journey. On the pilgrimage passport are listed 9 sites where the Blessed Sacrament is present, either in the form of Exposition (which means the consecrated host is taken out of the tabernacle and placed in a golden stand called a monstrance), or reserved in the tabernacle.

PRINT YOUR PASSPORT

We are asking that each family make a pilgrimage this year visiting as many of the sites as you can, spending time in prayer before the Lord Jesus. Children are to get their passport stamped at the sites. (see back of passport for more information on this). In June we will wrap up the pilgrimage year with our parish Corpus Christi Procession, June 2nd, which all are HIGHLY encouraged to attend. As an incentive to the children, prizes will be given to those who have visited 8 of the 9 sites. In addition, all those preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation (7th & 8th grades) are required to visit 5 sites, one of them being a class trip on Sat, Nov 11 to the Blue Army shrine.
